Perhaps it is time to sing the Happiest Hamster Song.
The show was muy entertaining and clever. Most clever!
Arwen's show rocks. It is totally high-energy and dynamic, as it comes flying out of the starting gate, and keeps your brain and sense of irony racing to keep up the whole time...and you can see it again because you know there are some good word-plays you missed or didn't have time to fully appreciate the first time. It was fun and interesting from start to finish... and, a fence really does whir by.
PS After the show, Deb and I discussed the function of adverbs, because we are Pure Nerd, and we talked about how adverbs can modify adjectives as well as verbs. But then I was thinking, there are SOME adverbs that ONLY modify adjectives (like "very"--you can't stick "very" next to a verb). And Mark pointed out that some adverbs modify other ADVERBS as well (like, you can say, "he very happily sang the Happiest Hamster Song," or "the happiest hamster was very happy"). So, why are they called adverbs, when they have so many other things they can do?
PPS
Arwen's show is also moving...I forgot to mention that. Irony is good but the best of all art combines irony AND true pathos, and I think the play achieved that.
Yes, all the things Sarah said which I totally thought, too, but was leaving as an exercise for the reader. I also googled "grammar adverb" to get more perspective on this fascinating part of speech, but I found such a varied set of results that it made me very tired. I leave that as an exercise for the reader, too.
Wish I could have been there! Congrats on a great opening!!
I'm sorry I had to miss opening. It sounds like it went well. BOA closes this weekend, however, so possibly Friday the 10th or Saturday the 11th?
The little sloth looks like he fell down and is pissed the photographer isn't helping him up! Poor guy!
