hiking in tilden is good for the soul
i needed to be walked on sunday. i've needed to be walked a lot lately. i will be walked again this weekend. i think the general stress of city living is getting to me. but i am not the only one. some guy went ape shit and drove his SUV into 13 people today. most of this happened in my neighborhood. not good. not good at all. that's on top of the murder spree in bayview. *sigh* it's hard to live in these times. i'm sure everyone feels this way in their own time... but jesus, the freakinginformationsuperhighway has made things so overwhelming. the political climate is overwhelming. the cost of living is overwhelming. the fact that some idiot who lies about killing a little girl eats up this much media attention is overwhelming. burning man is overwhelming. global warming is overwhelming. headshots are overwhelming. factory farming is overwhelming. love is overwhelming. violence EVERYwhere is overwhelming. the lack of dogs in my life is overwhelming. the sheer number of electronic gadgets available is overwhelming.
now i am tired of being overwhelmed. i think i will go see Jen Weed. right now.

Arwen-
The crazy guy who ran over 13 people was in the room next to me and Ed at SF General Hospital today. Had to take Ed to the ER at 4am and this guy is brought in by cops sometime early afternoon. Never got a look at him but he had 5 cops outside his door at one point. SF General (being the Trauma Center for the city) got almost all of the victims.
omigoodness! that is even MORE overwhelming!!! and jesus, is Ed okay? what an absolutely insane coincidence.... oh god and i wonder how all of the other victims are doing??? are you guys back home now???
Yeah. We got home around 5:30pm. Ed's ok...he's got mono, poor guy. He's hopped up on Morphine and sleeping like a baby right now.
The mono caused his spleen to swell and it hurts like hell.
From what I heard there were 13 victims total. The one in Fremont died and there was at least one in SF that was in critical condition. I believe most of the victims were treated and released. CBS tried to interview us when we left the ER because they thought Ed was one of the victims. We had to disappoint them. But we did make it onto KRON 4. Their anchor was filming as we walked out and we walked behind his shot.
WOW - this world is insanely small isn't it? Can't believe you guys were right next door to the SUV guy. I don't think we've met but I'm glad to hear your husband is feeling better. I had mono a long time ago and it sucks. Had swollen glands and sinusitis on top of that. I can't imagine feeling a swollen spleen. I had a kidney infection last year and I was very unhappy.
