Freaky February

Ok. the blog has been resting. And the blog will likely continue to be pretty rested over the next two months unless I seem to find myself needing it as a cathartic outlet.

February has been madness. As opposed to the normal type of February that I have come to loathe over my lifetime that is usually all about trying to fight off February depression (different than seasonal affective disorder - I truly believe that February brings it's very own special brand of melancholy), this February has been chock full of absolute amazingness. (the shitty ass cold that I had for 12 days straight and am still fighting is the only bad thing I can point to this February.

So - here goes:

- I've started rehearsals for my role as Stella in Streetcar Named Desire over at Marin Theatre Company. I am thrilled and exhausted and overwhelmed and totally, maniacally excited.

- Did an Argentine Tango Boot Camp weekend with Dave - 3 days of dancing. I've been hoping to get Dave to do something like this for 10 1/2 years. Twas good. :)

- ended up substitute teaching three times at the Circus Center and was therefore officially hired on as a teacher. I taught Aerial Silk twice and Aerial Conditioning once and loved it. I'm also available for privates if any of you have been yearning to climb my silk. I'm serious.

- Did a weeklong workshop of a new musical by Tanya Shaffer with music by Vienna Teng called Sid Arthur. It broke my 3 year musical hiatus in a very positive way. Really good people to work with.... I still have NO INTENTION of doing musicals anymore, but when they are about a young woman who is trying to find her lost mother who is now an enlightened one and tells a really good story with REAL characters, it's not soooooo bad. ;)

- Went through a rather big job change at the day job. Almost thought I was out of there, but it has all worked out. Which, right now, is good. :)

- Ended up doing a last minute silk gig at Supperclub (covering for Kerri getting sick). Performed twice to two songs that I had never heard before that morning! So I guess I should say IMPROV-ed to two songs. Went rather well for the last minute nature of the gig and it was corporate so it paid nicely. :) sweet.

- I've started workshop meetings for the show that I'll be doing in the summer. It's a new play being written during these workshops and will be a contemporary take on the four lovers from A Midsummer Nights Dream.

- I wrote an epic rock ballad.

- Saw movies - such as history of violence, shaun of the dead, sisterhood of the traveling pants, casino royale, high school musical, no country for old men, hairspray, superbad, postcards from the edge, the aviator and OH MY GOD - notes on a scandal. holy shit - next time I am feeling like one of my 'ugh acting - what am I doing? why am I not saving seals?' etc moments, I am just going to pop in this dvd and be fucking KILLED by cate blanchett. she is over-exposed right now, but dear god, she REALLY is THAT good.

- Like I said - I was sick with nasty, heavy cold from HELL for 12 days.

- I did readings at the Aurora, the Magic, Marin Theatre Company and the Throckmorton. They were all really fun.

- Dave and I went to city hall in a great feat of serendipity and got married.
